NORTH WEST MICROLEAGUE

Northwest Micro League is a three Division league aimed at giving young swimmers aged 9-12 their first taste of competitive swimming action in a friendly team-based setting. In 2022 Clitheroe Dolphins won Division C and we will compete in Division B in 2023.
To be eligible for selection swimmers need to be aged 12 or under on 26th Nov 2023 (this is the day of the National Final).
Division B consists of 7 teams : Clitheroe, Burnley Bobcats, Garston, Halton, Leyland Barracudas 'B', Blackburn Centurions, and Chorley Marlins.
Each team race in 4 galas and every team hosts at one gala at their home pool, this year Dolphins will swim in the following galas:
Sun 26th Feb 2pm @ Stonyhurst against Burnley, Chorley & Leyland 'B'
Sat 18th March tbc @ Knowsley Leisure Centre, Liverpool against Garston, Burnley & Chorley
Sun 18th June 1.30pm @ Darwen Leisure Centre against Blackburn, Garston & Burnley
Sun 25th June 2.30pm @ Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes against Halton, Garston & Blackburn
The winners and promoted teams are decided by who has accumulated the most points across all events. The team to represent Dolphins consists of 4 to 5 boys and 4 to 5 girls in each of the following age bandings:
Aged 9 and under (at the date of the National final in Nov) - all raced over 25m
Aged 10 (at the date of the National final in Nov) - Butterfly is raced over 25m and all other events raced over 50m
Aged 11 (at the date of the National final in Nov) - all raced over 50m
Aged 12 (at the date of the National final in Nov) - all raced over 50m
The coaching team will select the teams for each gala two weeks in advance of each race and selection will be based on the ability & attitude of the swimmer at training. Given the distances involved this year, we will be hiring a coach/bus totake the team to the events at Knowsley and Widnes.

Ribblesdale Pool in Clitheroe has become the latest organisation in the UK to achieve Swim England's Water Wellbeing standard.
The Water Wellbeing mark is aimed at transforming community swimming pools into places for health, wellbeing and rehabilitation. It recognises the organisation’s efforts in making the pools more accessible and inclusive for people with long-term health conditions.
Councillor Stuart Hirst, chairman of the council’s community services committee, said:
“It’s wonderful to see Ribblesdale Pool achieve this national award. It’s a testimony to the hard work of staff and the enthusiastic support of the pool’s users.
“Swimming and water-based activities are well-known for their health benefits for people of all ages.”
