Clitheroe Dolphins standout performance at Lancashire County Championships
17 Mar 2026
The event, which took place over two weekends at the Manchester Aquatic Centre, proved to be a resounding success for the Dolphins, who had 32 participants in the championships. The club was represented in an impressive 36 finals at the championships, where its members delivered 91 personal best performances and secured 18 medals in the competition.
14 year old Imogen Clarkson was arguably the standout swimmer for the Dolphins, securing 10 medals for the club, including gold medals in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly. 13-year-old Isla Astle added a further four medals to the club’s tally, including a victory in the 100m freestyle. While Beatrice Pollard aged 11, matched that count with four medals of her own, taking gold in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke.
The success at the championships followed an impressive calendar year in 2025, which saw the Dolphins earn 22 county medals, and club chairperson Paul Carey expressed delight with the success, highlighting how the club is extremely proud of its swimmers, noting that their results reflect their dedication and strong work ethic.
