NORTH LANCASHIRE SWIM LEAGUE

Develop confidence, race skills, resilience and teamwork

What is the North Lancashire Swim League?

The North Lancashire Swim League is a friendly but competitive team swimming league where clubs from across the North Lancashire region compete against each other throughout the season. It gives swimmers the opportunity to represent their club as part of a team, build racing experience and enjoy the excitement of competitive swimming in a supportive environment

Unlike individual galas, swimmers race for points for the whole club. Every swim matters, and the atmosphere is usually loud, energetic and team-focused, with swimmers cheering each other on poolside. It is one of the best ways for swimmers to feel part of the wider club community and experience team competition.

The league runs annually between approximately January and June and is made up of multiple rounds hosted at pools across the region, including venues such as Darwen, Lancaster and Blackpool. Clubs compete across divisions, with promotion and relegation depending on results across the season.

Swimmers  can take part and compete within age groups including:

-  12 and under

- 13 and 14 years

- 15 years and over

Events usually include:

-  50m individual races in all strokes

- Team relays

-  Mixed relays

- Age-group competitions for boys and girls

Points are awarded based on finishing positions, and the club with the highest total points across all rounds is crowned league winner..

Teams are selected by the coaching staff before each gala based on:

-  Training attendance Attitude and commitment

-  Swimming ability and development

- Team spirit and availability

For many swimmers, the North Lancashire Swim League is an important step in their competitive swimming journey. It helps swimmers develop confidence, race skills, resilience and teamwork while proudly representing Clitheroe Dolphins alongside their teammates.
